About the event

The EUVIP project team warmly invites you to a panel discussion, organized in collaboration with the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), the Central Asian Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS) and the Vienna School of International Studies, that will follow a closed 3rd EUVIP dissemination workshop.

Abstract:

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU) share a strategic commitment to preserving the rules-based, multilateral order in the Indo-Pacific. However, growing Sino-US rivalry and the prevalence of great power politics that often disregard international law undermine this order. The panelists will discuss the current situation in the region and how the EU can work together with ASEAN and other like-minded partners to counteracting the negative effects of great power politics and strengthen the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.
